Sandhills High School FBLA Blood Drive Celebrates Centennial

Sandhills High School FBLA Blood Drive Celebrates Centennial

Red Cross established in Nebraska 100 years ago

The Sandhills High School FBLA will be helping the American Red Cross celebrate a century of service in Nebraska at their blood drive Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Open Bible Church, 350 Rogers St., Dunning.

The first Nebraska Red Cross chapter was established in Omaha in 1917. With the support of volunteers and donors, the Red Cross has expanded across the state to help countless people, including those in need of blood.

“Like the Red Cross has been for the past 100 years, the Sunrise Rotary Club is committed to helping the North Platte community,” said Amanda Koubek, Donor Recruitment account manager, Midwest Blood Services Region. “Patients depend on volunteer donors, and we’re grateful that members of the Rotary Club volunteer their time to help collect blood for those in need.”

To make an appointment at the Centennial blood drive, call or text Heidi at 880-0533. All who come to give will receive either a Red Cross stadium cushion or Red Cross insulated travel mug, while supplies last.
