Heidi Saner, Taylor Downing, Devon Porter, Liz Peterson, Bryan Zutavern, Brooklyn Leach, Dylan Lister, Hannah Christie, Emily Martindale and Madison Glidden, along with their business teacher Celeste Rogers braved the early morning frost on October 10 to attend the 12th Annual New Venture Adventure. Students were divided into groups which were split among retail, service and manufacturing businesses.

Each group had to come up with a product to sell, they then had to create a mission statement, an ad jingle, a business card, meet with a panel of bankers and get a loan for their business for operational expenses and a building. They also had an ethical case problem to solve. As the final project each group presented to a panel of three judges--they needed to include such items as the amount of their business loan, interest rate, when they planned to pay it back, the location of business, whether they would export any of the work  and if they would sell nationally or internationally. They were also required to answer questions about their business at the conclusion of their presentation.

Business ventures included a cup that would keep hot liquids hot without having to plug them in; an online tutoring service, a solar panel that would charge your cell phone, a customized electronic device that would do pretty much whatever you wanted it to do; a pet care service, tailored suits for athletes, healthy food and recreation store, home health service to name a few of them.

Students on winning teams were Dylan Lister for top service business; Brooklyn Leach for top retail business and Devon Porter for the top manufacturing business. Dylan Lister was also on the Grand Champion Team. Congrats to all the students on a job well done!
